Consider this entry as research, and nothing more. For those of you who have grown accustomed to lengthy commentary and blow-hard opinions from this “Know it All,” I hate to disappoint. If you’re patient, however, more will come. And, if you do your part in this research (Yes, I’m talking to you! Don’t pretend you don’t hear me! ), my future soapbox will be built with your input.

In thinking about education, I can’t help but ponder how many decisions are made, ideas generated, or innovations stymied – at the highest levels – by those who have no experience, advanced training, or practical background in the field. And, contrary to popular belief, having been through school doesn’t make you an expert in education, any more than having your hair cut makes you a certified stylist.
Is there another industry where decision-making is dominated by so many without any experience or advanced training in the field?
This question isn’t rhetorical; I really am trying to think this through. Judging by my readership, I’m guessing what the natural response to that question will be, but let’s put emotion aside, really process, and then share. We are often told to behave like a business, so let’s take a look at this particular comparison.
Oh, and this post is also serving as a call-out for those of you who are often loaded with opinions, but don’t wish to register with TypePad. Time to register! Zuckerberg already has it all, anyway, and I’m reasonably confident he’s looking through my window, right now.
